Internet video to be set up for water hearings

 The Nevada State Engineer will be holding water rights hearing on applications filed for Cave Valley, Dry Lake Valley and Delamare Valley Monday, February 4 through Friday February 11, 2008.

The hearing will be broadcast live at the Nevada Legislature Web site: http://www.leg.state.nv.us/audio/AudioVideo.cfm.

The hearing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008, continuing through Friday, February 8, 2008, and reconvening at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2008, continuing through Friday, February 15, 2008, to be held at the Nevada Legislature, 401 South Carson Street, Room 1214, Carson City, Nevada. Please note that the room will be moved for Thursday and Friday, February 7 and 8 to Room 4100.

Public comment will be taken on Friday, February 8, 2008 and written public comment will be accepted until Friday, February 29, 2008.

Oral public comment will be taken in Carson City, Las Vegas, Caliente and Ely on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Written public comment

Ely Energy Center power plant public hearing set for Jan. 9

CARSON CITY, Nev.–The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), Bureau of Air Pollution Control, will hold a public hearing Wednesday, Jan. 9, in Ely, Nevada, on its technical evaluation of the permit application submitted by Sierra Pacific Resources for its Ely Energy Center coal-fired power plant, proposed for construction in eastern Nevada.

The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Bristlecone Convention Center, Bristlecone Room, 150 Sixth St., in Ely.

Members of the public are invited to comment on NDEP’s technical evaluation of the company’s air pollution control permit application for the proposed power plant and whether it meets all existing state and federal clean air standards. The draft air pollution control permit for the plant has been out for public comment since Nov. 7, 2007. Read the rest of this entry »


Hearing scheduled concerning proposed changes to Nevada Division of State Parks regulations

Nevada State Parks LogoCARSON CITY, Nev.–The Nevada Division of State Parks will hold a public hearing on December 13, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m., at 901 South Stewart Street, Suite 5005.

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments regarding the amendment of regulations that pertain to Chapter 407 of the Nevada Administrative Code. The purpose for the amendment of these regulations is to provide for the equitable collection of reasonable user fees and to provide for operation and management of State Parks.

The proposed regulation represents comments the division received from the public and the Legislature and do not constitute an increase in fees but allow for a fee at three parks not presently mentioned in the Nevada Administrative Codes: Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, the Elgin School House and Buckland Station, a new facility that has not been previously open to the public.
