LOVELOCK, Nev. — Rye Patch State Recreation Area will hold its second annual Star Party on Saturday, September 20. Join amateur astronomers Jay Lawson and Adam Kremers at 9:00 p.m. at the lower overflow parking lot on the road down to the lower campground.

Lawson will bring his 16-inch and 24-inch telescopes and his expertise. There will be a number telescopes available for viewing planets, galaxies and deep-space nebulae.

Signs will be posted with reflective arrows leading the way to the lower overflow parking lot. Please enter the parking lot with parking lights to preserve the night vision of viewers present. There is a $4.00 per vehicle entrance fee requirement.

Rye Patch Reservoir, along the Humboldt River, covers 11,000 acres when full. Rye Patch is known for its trophy-class walleye fishing. Here, visitors also enjoy swimming, boating, water skiing, hiking, camping and picnicking. Campgrounds, a boat launch, restrooms with hot showers, RV dump stations and picnic sites are provided. Rye Patch is located 22 miles north of Lovelock on Interstate 80 (Exit 129).
