Mormon Station expansion well under way in Genoa (RGJ)

(Reno Gazette-Journal)–Judging by the faded photographs and sketches that line the museum walls, parts of Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa look much the same these days as they did in the 19th century.

From the wooden stockade fence to a small grove of apple trees, the park commemorating what is arguably the earliest settlement in Nevada is filled with original and replica artifacts from the state’s early days.

Still, there’s no reason the site shouldn’t change with the times, Park Supervisor Suzanne Sturtevant said. Read more at the Reno Gazette-Journal.
