Wal-Mart awards grants to State Parks

(State Parks) CARSON CITY, Nev.–The Wal-Marts in Fallon and Carson Valley announced yesterday two cash grants awarded to the Nevada Division of State Parks. 

State Parks Administrator Dave Morrow, Wal-Mart's Angela Wood, and State Parks' Steve SilvaOne grant will be for $500 awarded by the Fallon Wal-Mart to assist with the training of park staff at Lahontan State Recreation Area. The second award was from the Supercenter Wal-Mart inCarson Valley. This award was also for $500 and is part of Wal-Mart’s community involvement grant program. Both grants will be used to support the division’s law enforcement and emergency services operations in the Carson and Fallon areas.

“We are extremely grateful for Wal-Mart’s support of Nevada’s State Park system,” said Dave Morrow,Nevada State Park’s administrator. “This money will provide training that will help law enforcement and emergency response efforts.”

Angela Wood, the community involvement coordinator for the Carson Valley Supercenter Wal-Mart, said that her store had given about $40,000 to local programs in 2006, including the Navy League and Child Protective Services.
