The fire season is still several months away, but firefighters say they’re already concerned about a lack of manpower and money.
Fire season traditionally begins in May or June in Southern Nevada and moves north as the weather warms. State crews are at full capacity for this year, but Nevada forester Pete Anderson says, there will be less help when that fire season is upon us.

Reno, Nev.—The Bureau of Land Management published a notice in the Federal Register on February 8, 2008, announcing the availability of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Kane Springs Valley Groundwater Development Project for review and comment.
The BLM will accept written comments on the FEIS for 30 days following the publication of the Environmental Protection Agency Notice of Availability in the Federal Register which published concurrently with BLM’s notice on Feb. 8. Read the rest of this entry »
(January 11, 2007)–Conservation and Natural Resources Director Allen Biaggi testified today, our state could sue the feds for more money to manage wild horse herds. But he says there is a downside. Overall federal dollars are declining, and such litigation could jeopardize relationships with agencies trying to help wild horse herds.
